The Brewster Summer Music Festival in Brewster Village wraps up the season with a final performance when Genevieve Faivre headlines with her band, BQE, on Wednesday.
The original date in July was rained out, but this one is rain or shine. If the weather does not cooperate for an evening outdoors at the Gazebo, the show will be held at the Old Town Hall Theater, 67 Main St., Brewster, with parking between the theater and library.
As I stated in a previous newsletter, I have heard her sing in NYC many times, and her voice gives me chills every time. Although she is a personal friend, this is a sincere endorsement of a talent who is outstanding. This is in no way, shape or form a paid promotion. Go to her website (Music tab) to listen to a few songs.
Genevieve has established herself as a professional musician, performing vocal jazz, r&b, pop, rock, samba and bossa nova in NYC and beyond. She is frequently recruited as a session vocalist in studios for demos, background and lead vocals on projects such as feature film soundtracks, original compositions and voice-overs.
The Brooklyn resident was professionally trained in classical voice from a young age, attending prestigious programs in New York City at Manhattan School of Music, NYU Steinhart and the New York City Opera. She pursued a vocal performance degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She is a graduate of Brewster High School, where, if you are from the area, you may remember she starred in many performances of the theater department.
For food or drink before or after, head to the Southeast Grillehouse on Route 6, a couple miles from the gazebo. Best food and service in the area, at great prices.

The profile of Genevieve is another great example of how rich the arts are in this part of NYS/CT. We are very unique in this area. I like knowing you can walk from the RR..(I have two friends in NYC that look for Metro-North outings!
